Resources available to learn a language

When choosing to try to learn a language on your own, it is important to keep in mind the amount of resources available for you to learn it.

The resources include: For example, the average person who has access to the Internet and who does not travel all that much will have access to much more resources on a language as widely taught and learned as Spanish as opposed to resources on a language like Mongolian which has much fewer native speakers and which is not a commonly learned language. On the other hand, some languages with relatively few native speakers, such as the Basque language, have been the object of more intense studies, for various reasons, and subsequently have more resources available on the web, relative to the quantity of native speakers left.

Therefore, it is important to inform yourself about the resources available to you before starting to learn a language.
