Bourg-en-Bresse with a new restaurant "Chez Blanc"
recently opened in December 1999 and Alain
Chapel in Mionnay are two internationally renowned chefs
who have carried the richness of Ain gastronomy way beyond its
borders. Imagine these two big names in cuisine blending in with the variety of flavours, colours and surroundings and you can go some way to appreciating the immense culinary tradition of this region. In Bresse and Bourg, good restaurants, small or large, are legion. Even if the regions poultry, unique worldwide with its AOC label (*) takes first place on the menu, there are other specialities such as frogs legs which are highly prized and Dombes carp among other succulent dishes.
